SPEAKER:  David Throup: retiring from a career in high performance electronic engineering, a second career helping to maintain some Georgian technology was the obvious choice. What started as a fun thing to do on a Tuesday turned into a multi faceted journey through the mind of James Watt and his impact on this tiny corner of Wiltshire.

TOPIC:  Crofton Beam Engines – its families 1808-1959. Over this time only 13 families have lived and worked to run the engines pumping water to the top of the Kennet and Avon Canal. This is their story interwoven with great technological changes.
